Letter of Recognition
The Canadian Border Services Agency has officially recognized SIGGRAPH 2011. This means that non-Canadians do not need a Canadian work permit to participate in the conference. ALL non-Canadian attendees, volunteers, and presenters should print the agency's letter of recognition and present it to a Border Services officer when they enter Canada: Letter of Recognition

Canadian Visa

Citizens of the US and many other countries do not need a visa to enter Canada. Also, no visa is required for persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence. Passports

ALL visitors to Canada must have a valid passport. Some visitors must also have a Canadian visa, and some must fulfill other requirements. Complete Information on Who is Eligible to Visit Canada

US Passport Information

US citizens or residents must have a passport to enter Canada and return to the US. If you need to apply for or renew your US passport to attend SIGGRAPH 2011, please review the US Department of State Travel Site. The following items are required for a passport application:

  • Proof of US citizenship: previously issued, undamaged US passport; certified birth certificate issued by the city, county, or state*; Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth; Naturalization Certificate; Certificate of Citizenship.
  • Two recent color, passport-size photographs: photo services are available at the passport-application booth.
  • Processing fee: $135 for first-time applications, $110 for renewals. Accepted forms of payment: debit card, cash, or check.

* A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal; registrar's signature; and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within one year of your birth. Please note: some short (abstract) versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes.
